I’ll be honest, I’ve been to Cheesecake twice now (both for colleagues leaving dos), with everyone raving about it, and I don’t get the fuss about it at all.

Smallman1 jokes aside, is it worth a trip? As Camberwell is the arse end of london for someone living in essex. Also it’s a few doors down from Silk Road, which is a fantastic place to eat

Mad_Cyril it was a vision of hell when I walked in. Top floor of Macy’s in SF. Crowded. The coldest reception you could imagine.

Once sat down it was speedy, American, melted cheese everywhere and full of calories.

I fell into a food cons shortly after and have woken up at 3 to pop another melatonin.

Ed would love it.

Yes, this is what I hated about it. In the middle of Beijing’s busiest, most cunt-infested mall. Why would I want to go there for dinner?

Pizza about on a par with Domino’s.

Mad_Cyril Isn’t that a bit like criticising the crack in an Irish bar in Beijing?

I’m just saying I didn’t see why people enjoy particularly enjoy it. Is it the food? It can’t be the atmosphere of the place. May seem like a great place if you’re a Yank I suppose.

Zackster probably loves it, since he loves stuffing his face with calorific stodge, wears Starter clothes and he doesn’t score any Persians on his nights out anyway.

      Reccos for SF:

Go Duck Yourself - despite the suspect name, these guys knock out the best Chinese roast duck and pork I’ve ever had. Sensational. They don’t have a seated restaurant, so you either need to pitch up at the shop, and eat al fresco, or you can order for delivery.

Miller’s Crossing - great little place in Nob Hill. Modern American I think is how they describe it. We ordered most of the starters as sharing plates, and loved them all.

Buster’s - best cheesesteak I’ve had. Brilliant lunch on the go.

Oh, and make sure you go for a drink at the Tonga Room at the Fairmont. Weird and slightly cheesy experience, but - seeing a tropical rainstorm in a cellar bar was a first for me…

        vinnyt77 too late!

Football on Saturday in the last drop tavern. Santa con in full flow.

The rock yesterday. Brutal jet lag meant afternoon wipeout after cheesecake. Not helped by 3 hour late departure on Friday meaning I overcooked the champagne. I am shit going west with jet lag.

        Heading to Carmel today.

benson I’m much worse heading West than East…

You heading down to LA? Any time in wine country??

            benson
            Decent. Two important questions;

            1. Does that include ‘extras’?
            2. What is the Lounge like?

              Mad_Cyril Does that include ‘extras’?

You get an at seat hand shandy from the mincing cabin crew chap called Rupert. Is that what you meant?

Mad_Cyril Concorde room is great. Had a bottle of champagne that retails at £160ish (Laurent perrier Grand Siecle). Rest of the wine was very average. Table service food in the lounge and tablcloth on board. Food in the lounge: The linguine was nice. Rather enjoyed the terrine.

Food on board was a roast shortrib. Rather nice. The chicken katsu burger as a light bite was a bit dry.

Flying back from LA on saturday so hoping to hook up with a celebrity whilst the mrs sleeps.
