I gave it a go. Not my thing so I stopped listening. I dunno, Kels. Just seems like she’s always getting ripped right and left and I don’t see her sins as being any more egregious than countless others. Nick Warren couldn’t mix a gin and tonic. I’ve heard Craig Richards play absolute self-indulgent nonsense. James Zabiela had years there where it seemed he was hell bent on seeing what his effects unit could do rather than what it should do. “She’s only there because of her looks” yeah well welcome to the world.

    bosstrabs Such as?

Did you watch the Coachella video?

I don’t hate her! But I don’t believe she’s “EDM” either. So, where did she get her credentials?

By EDM I mean Ganacci, Garrix and the one with the trumpet.

jonattonyeah It’s no one’s thing because it’s horrific. THAT’S what I’m getting at. You can say what you like about the other people you mentioned, but let’s be honest….she’s much much worse about it. If it were a one off, I would give her the benefit of the doubt, but EVERY set I’ve seen from her, she fucks up like this. So yeah, I do believe she’s only there because of her looks, and MAYBE her taste in music, because the tracks are good….she just doesn’t know what to do with them.

Fair enough. Hey she gives us content to argue about so there’s that. Not like Jody Wisternoff is driving much discussion.

jonattonyeah Warren comparison is a flawed mate. Ajare and Sad Robot alone are infinitely better than anything she will put her name to
Moreover, his first three GU’s were excellent. when I have seen him (admittedly between 98 and 06) his tune selections were top notch, he also had a residency at Cream and Lakota in their hay days.

alistair err her record label is amongst the best around. I give he massive credit for that.

zackster You haven’t known me long enough. Some of these other people know exactly how mean girl I can get 😉

Heno If you want to profess to be more adept at women’s fashion than me, by all means, I won’t stand in your way…..

            alistair

He still couldn’t mix two records together with much competence. My point isn’t to drag Warren into the muck (his kitchen could use some work, mind), but rather to say there are countless DJs who skate by despite questionable choices or abilities. Dunno why Kravitz always gets it on the chin whereas others get a pass. Her looks might be why she is where she is, but that also seems to give people carte blanche to dismiss her outright.

jonattonyeah I get your point. I just don’t rate her or her music. Peggy Gou gets a hard time in some quarters but she was great when I saw her and starry night and make me forget are superb

Nina is confident enough to take risks. Love that about her.
