There’s another varient in India Omicron 2.75 not sure how bad it is though

zackster I was reading this morning about how much more transmittable it is, how much nastier the symptoms are compared to early Omicron variants and how it is good at bypassing immune systems of people that have already either had covid or have had vaccinations/boosters. We are experiencing a surge here in California mostly down to this new variant.

Supposedly it has surpassed the measles as the most transmittable disease ever

Millsy LOL - it just isn’t that bad and I know a lot of people who got it. The missus was super mild.

Went to a small party on Sunday. 15 or 16 people. 9 currently positive (that I know of). I tested negative (Binax rapid) but don’t believe it. Been 7 months since my last bout with the bastard and just under that for 4th booster. Could be the test result is accurate but I don’t feel right. Nothing too bad but similar to when I first got it - tight chest, lethargic, flush.

jonattonyeah many of my friends are livid that they can’t get 4th booster due to age restrictions. My mrs and I bagged them back in April but we had to lie to do so.

      zackster

Around here it’s a logistical issue. In the prior two whatever years there was an entire Covid infrastructure in place with many of us 100% FTE on that. I’m now 100% back on HIV along with most others who returned to their normal jobs. We were hoping for insurance/medical homes to take over the lead for vaccines and boosters as we, as the public department, help those with no safety net. But we seem to have some bottlenecks. The other problem is that the model used for disaster service work is taken from FEMA which is more of a military approach in the event of an earthquake or hurricane. It was never intended to be something that lasted as long as this has. Square peg, round hole. Wish I had better answers but I’m not sure what the plan is.

From my perspective I’m done with vaccines now I think. Already had 3 vaccines and COVID at least once (fairly certain I had in in January 2020 before it was even officially confirmed in the UK) so time to get on with it.

Wifey had it this week and I’ve been having headaches but testing negative

That makes more sense, I was starting to worry about you.

Personally think taking a 4th vaccine, one that wasn’t designed for this variant and displays very low effectiveness, is overkill…. especially if you’ve had covid already. If they update the vaccines for the current strains (or even for the original Omicron strain), Ill take them more seriously.

I’m lost with the vaccines and variants now I’m feeling kind of cocky (had covid early april)

However in Cyprus out of the blue, fucking loads of people are suddenly getting it the 2nd or 3rd time. Some of them had a reasonably easy ride / bad cold effect last time and this time have been floored. Fully vax’d.

What’s the craic with the best vaccine for what variant now?

Jules72 from what I am seeing the current Pfizer and ModeRNA vaxxes are effective and they think spikes in younger people is due to a lack of boosters
