Always found Manchester to be quite friendly, but it’s always fucking freezing.
Most clubs go through the ripe phase, new crowd phase, then the moody phase before ultimate closure.
I remember being at The Red Box for Sasha (night he played the Gorillaz remix), maybe some off here were also in attendance? middle of the set a pair of Russians started going at it, the dance floor opened up like the Red Sea as they were a pair of animals that wouldn’t look out of place in the UFC. Even Sasha was looking down on it with his jaw on the floor. Completely killed the atmos for the rest of the night, everyone on edge.
Clubs lose that friendly atmosphere over time when the dealers have control. Shame really but its inevitable when drugs are such a mainstay of the culture. The Red Box didn’t last much longer after that.
My really shit klang happened in Dublin Airport, Aiden Gillen walked straight into me as I was sitting on my bag on the floor having a nasty back & forth with the bank as they’d locked my card. He called me a cunt, İ called him a cunt.
