IndustryStandard plus just finished Industry and the last few episodes it does pick up and enjoyed it in the end. Had some themes that are very relevant around culture and the type of person you have to be to succeed . Not a good indication of human nature !

Just finished it as well. I’d give it 10/10. Felt like the sort of telly that comes around once a decade and will break at least a few big careers for those involved.

C_J Well…Ive finished episode 5 of Industry and I have to say its starting to get very interesting….some very strong characters and storylines. Think the first episode was misleading and a bit tacky - the series is a lot better than that.

Where are you all on this mini series thing. Part of me thinks they should just be two hour movies but the screenwriter and director don’t care to deal with editing.

I guess I ask given what happened today with Warner Brothers. Pretty much the nail in the coffin for movie theaters. They might go the way of jazz.

jonattonyeah Wow. Hadn’t seen the WB news. Feels like the decision is too late for the worst of the pandemic, and they may live to regret it as effective vaccines roll out worldwide. There are some movies I’ll always wanna go and see on a big screen, once safely open again, even if available at home at the same time.

Yeah, they just fucked the movie theatres, and everyone else will follow suit…

Homegrove

Fargo Season 4 done. Went third place in my ranking of the seasons, the second is the best, then comes the first, third one wasn’t that brilliant. Yeah you watched it, but it didn’t excite you.

The start of the season was just too slow for me.

Homegrove it’s quite long and sprawling that’s for sure… still have to watch the last episode but have enjoyed it

They’re going to lose so much money on this. Just mountains of money. They must be planning for the long haul of being streaming only, otherwise why bother? I mean, look at some of the movies that are going straight to HBO Max. These are big budget, big receipt films, with big stars.

really enjoyed industry. thought some of the characters were really funny. however the wife walked into the room on two separate occasions during a sex scene and questioned what i was watching

industry was ok, didn’t like it as much as the rest of you seemed to. i thought the characters were ok, but they were completely static and i got tired of having gender issues pushed constantly. seemed like a show written by people that lean a little too far left.

The Many Saints of Newark

IIRC, it uses the 1967 riots as a backdrop for the conflict between Italian-Americans and African-Americans. Done by David Chase and has Gandolfini’s son in it.

Looks like March 12th, my man. Gotta have HBO Max, ’though. And I think that’s different than normal HBO. They’ve done an appalling job explaining it honestly.
