alistair I know I am a fine one to talk, and yes it sounds trite, but we all ought to try to be nicer to each other. I struggled with depression for a few years in my 30’s and it is debilitating. You just don’t know people are feeling at any given time.
Thought this was worth a bump, but didn’t want to digress in the other thread and be disrespectful to what Graham Thorpe’s family might be going through.
Some board shout out’s to @ScottBailey & @Wasily who’s regular company has really helped pull me out from a long post-covid insularity, borne of the paranoia of being immunosuppressed all the way through and general fatigue from being on fairly heavy drugs.
On top of that they’ve both been outstandingly supportive when I was diagnosed with heart failure in November - one using their professional knowledge deftly to help me climb out of a pit of fear and the other for showing huge empathy and even offering to come up to Manchester to help out if need be.
Also one to @whatever who convinced me to pull my finger out for the JC takeover at a time when he knew I was in a pretty low dip - really helped me to climb out of a post-op hole and give me something to focus on.
Also one ot @Along_the_Wire for reaching out pre-op, a small gesture on the face of it but one that really meant a lot.
Whilst there can be a lot of shite flung round on here a lot of it is surface level - under the skin there are some genuinely decent people who do look out for each other.
Long may it continue ✊
