Ballerina (2025). Action unbelievable, everything else unbelievably bad, even for a Wick-movie. But the action is so good, I think Ana De Armas killed more people in this than Schwarzenegger did in Commando. And two great pieces of slapstick in the fights that actually made me laugh out loud in the theatre.

I went solo, for some reason my wife did not seem interested in this at all.

Ballad of Wallis Island is a solid 9/10. Fine british humour and chill vibes.

Sacramento and Friendship are similar in nature, and also great. friendship is insanely unhinged and wildly fun.

The Wrath of Becky Watched this after Phil recommended - as female revenge movies go, it isn’t the best, but it’s funny in parts and is only just over an hour. It’s no I Spit On Your Grave, but worth a watch. 6/10

There’s an interesting doc on Prime about I Spit On Your Grave made by the original directors daughter.

28 years later (2025): 6.5/10

I find Danny Boyle really frustrating because I really like a lot of things about his movies, but then he goes back to the trippy 3x speeded up sequences in every movie he does which I find unnecessary and jarring. This was quite a divisive movie with some in our group loving it (critics on RT are at 92%) and some including myself thinking it was pretty average. It’s not really a zombie movie, more a study in humanity and as such it’s oozing pathos. Being a jaded clubber I felt there was too much cynical manipulation but as I said some here I reckon will love this. They also randomly create a Swedish character who lives about 10 mins entirely for the purpose of a Shakespearean punch line which was lost on everyone in the Electric… 🤷‍♂️

@Wasily Pretty much nailed it with his review. DB films are very unique and there were some really nice passages and themes, but without spoiling the plot too much I didn’t like the arc around the mother and its conclusion. For me the theme was not portrayed well enough and some of the acting verged from cringy to wooden .

Mrs IS said it was one of the worst films she had ever seen ……and could actually understand that pov.

Sadly not, I had to make do with hanging out with him at Cream and talking film and music with him. Terrible stuff.
