Watch all Coen Brothers-films got to Fargo and The Big Lebowski on Sunday, I’m probably the first to ever say it but both are pretty decent movies.

Oh Brother is next, and I’m thinking about rewatching it too despite already having done it once this year. 😀

I don’t know anybody who doesn’t think those movies are stone cold classics. I’d go as far as saying the Big Lebowski is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen.

Watched this spanish french movie called The Beasts last night. Goddamn it’s intense and brilliant. Don’t want to spoil anything, but it had me by the balls throughout. The acting is top notch and so is the cinematography. 9.1 / 10

Christian the writer/director used to do sketch comedy and it shows. I personally loved the ending.

Wife and I rewatched Sinners and liked it even more. I spent most of the movie doing an inner monologue about how good it is. After seeing it originally at cinema I read that Coogler is a Metallica-fan so Ludwig Göransson asked Lars Ulrich to do the drums on the soundtrack and you can really hear the modern Metallica-sound in the heavy metal drops that happen from time to time.

Bring Her Back is insane and not for the squeamish. Some scenes will traumatise me for life. Also very scary, Sally Hawkins is wild. A better horror movie than Weapons simply because ill never watch it again in the same way ill never watch a movie like Irreversible again.

Enjoyed The Surfer but then I am sucker for Nic Cage and he’s on a bit of a roll at the moment. Weird, funny and quite poignant. RIP Julian McMahon who was excellent as the crazy cult leader.

Amps LOL. I’m not actually much of a 2001 nerd. Went straight from work so went solo. The fam would have been acopic especially with an interval.

Watched the first hour of Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. Has been really disappointing. It opens with clips from the previous films (that felt cheap), has about 20 minutes of exposition at the start and it just feels patchy — as though the budget was spent on the first part of it. They repeatedly explain the whole storyline, which is presumably to pander to thickets.

whatever it’s a really bad movie, but the last act is really good. Not saying you have to continue with it, but I was so frustrated in the movie theatre watching the last hour “why wasn’t this all like this?”

Echo Valley (2025) Sydney Sweeney, Julianne Moore, Domhnall Gleason. Written by Brad Ingelsby. Good old-fashioned crime thriller which revolves around a mum and daughter drugs relationship. Simple but effective. Entertainment rather than art. It won’t challenge you but it’s good fun.

Days of Heaven (1978). For my shame my first Terrence Malick-film I’ve seen. Set in 1912, over half of it is shot either right after sunrise, or just before sunset (the golden hour), and almost all of it on the wide opens and mountains of Galgary, Canada so it looks amazing. Starring young Brooke Adams, Richard Gere and Sam Shephard with a score by Ennio Morricone almost everything about this film is beautiful. Even the tragedy in the story.

Transactional match-making woman must choose between (cliche alert) private equity unicorn Pedro Pascal or struggling actor Chris Evans. This is described as a romcom, but I found it either romantic nor funny. I have learnt that materialistic New York single woman value income >> height (6′0+) > a full head of hair >> everything else but at the expense of sitting through what felt like a 2 hour episode of Sex and the City.
