I only go through three films on this trip, sadly.

Nobody 2. Pretty much the same old shit as the first one, but slight more stupid. Still entertaining, but certainly won’t be watching again. 6/10

Synchronic. I really liked this, a little whimsical, but liked the characters and the concept - surprised myself. 7.5/10

Nil By Mouth. Saw this at the cinema when it first came out, but a mate mentioned it the other week and I couldn’t really remember it. Really fucking grim with some of the best acting performance I’ve ever seen - superb by Gary Oldman. 9/10

Watched the first one with the daughter, the violence was a bit of a surprise but done in a funny way.

Enjoyable light, if a little violent for a 14yo, entertainment

Tron: Ares (2025) 3/10

‘Mankind encounters AI beings for the first time when a highly sophisticated programme, Ares, leaves the digital world for a dangerous mission in the real world’

Saw this in the Imax in 3d which is desperately needed as there’s little else to redeem this movie. The 3d is pretty cool but after 15 minutes of continuously shit electronic soundtracking and rubbish dialogue lost its appeal pretty quickly. An opportunity missed as the subject matter is suddenly relevant again and could’ve been an exploration into AGI, consciousness and the singularity but contended itself with cheap chases and repetitive laser printing. Avoid at all costs if you’re not seeing this on this screen in 3d.

Wasily I’ve not seen either of the two previous Tron-movies. I don’t know what convinced Disney to have Jared Leto star in a really expensive sequel in a franchise even nerds like me don’t care about. Tron 3 opened worse than Morbius.
