vinnyt77 Emily Blunt ruins the first film. Wanted her dead in it for most of the film, which kind of takes the edge off. I really loved the second one, but I viewed it almost as a separate action film - it was great on my new massive TV and soundbar at the time.

I do think the second film suffered a little by comparison being watched so close to the first. I think the storyline and narrative in the first are just tighter, and more exciting/interesting.

Interested to see what’s done for the 3rd instalment…

Red Notice (2021, Netflix)

You know, for most of the 1st hour I was having a pretty good time with this. Quite funny, decent set-up, some amazing shots of Rome and Valencia. There was a point about half-way through it massively runs out of creative fuel, though, and as the Scenes of Mortal Peril began to stack up I was left thinking “can there really be people out there who love this shit?”

I’m sure there are. Not completely terrible, overall.

Films I saw on the plane:

Mississippi Burning - not seen it for a long time a we’re all aware of this one though - a great film. 8/10

Rainman - never seen it bizarrely. Patchy and Cruise did his best to over-act the living daylights out it, but still a good yarn - 7/10

Mysteries of Murder - always pops up as a all-time classic of modern South Korean cinema. It was absolute fucking tripe and two hours completely wasted. S to the werve - 3/10
