Homegrove Bryce Dallas Howard is terrible but I like Sam Rockwell but not even his constant dancing couple save it.

Saying that I saw Mr Right with him and Anna Kendrick and had no hope of it being decent but it was actually quite funny

Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995). Blank Check-podcast did an episode on this (they’re doing a McTiernan-run) and I was reminded that it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it. Die Hard 2 might have been directed by a Finn, but this is the superior sequel. I’ve never seen films four and five, and apparently they suck. But this one’s really good. Disney+ has a 4K remaster of it too, which looks awesome.

Watched Metropoliton from 1990 - Woody Allen-esque humour about posh preps from NYC and a narky pauper who’s all over the shop. Excellent film 8/10

Thelma & Louise (1991). Great. Some of the best shots of Ridley’s career in the desert cinematography too, and that man’s been making good looking movies all his career.

The Client (1994)

Had high hopes for this as I enjoy John Grisham books and I also like Tommy Lee Jones. However it was a let down. The kid actor was terrible and Jones was barely in it. Susan Sarandon is some milf though. 5/10

Monkey Man (2024) 6.5/10

Dev Patel’s directing debut in which he also stars as a man on a revenge mission while moonlighting in a fight club. This is basically an Indian John Wick- a lot has been made about the political message of Modi’s oppression of ethnic/ religious minorities underscoring the movie but I just read it as a older bad guy who likes yoga and happens to have wiped out Dev’s village and mother. The action is decent, he must have been dying inside during the filming of Exotic Marigold hotel and David Copperfield to have come out with this level of violence. There is also a strange interlude mid movie where he ends up being trained in a temple punching rice bags by a tranny.

Scoop: Should be in the Netflix thread but it’s a good movie, so it’s in here.

Doesn’t quite have the finesse Spotlight had, but this is quite gripping and borderline bizarre in an entertaining way. This interview blew my mind, fun seeing how it all played out. 7.4 / 10

The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). Leaving Prime here soon, and it’s a McTiernan movie I’ve not seen previously. ⅗. Very entertaining, and a surprise amount of topless Rene Russo. Hilariously bad sex scene aside, a solid watch once and forget caper. Russo and Pierce Brosnan have great chemistry together, and even Denis Leary is surprisingly good in this.
