C_J … watched it last night. Was rather disappointed by it. All ended a bit flat/predictable. Got pretty good write ups and I was selling it hard to the Mrs as a film to watch. She was asleep after 30 mins…. 5.5/10

Assumed this was about Smallman but turned out to be a mildly interesting New Zealand documentary about someone even more odd.

On the plane out I watched:

Thief: pretty good Michael Mann film with an overly dominant 80s soundtrack by Tangerine Dream. It’s a little all over the shop, but better for it - James Caan is excellent. 6/10

Sunday Bloody Sunday: might’ve been an important film in the early 70s, but time hasn’t been kind to it at all. Glenda Jackson was quite fit in her day. 3/10

Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood (2019).

I saw that viral tweet about how Tarantino had Margaret Qualley, Mickey Madison, Austin Butler and Sydney Sweeney in his Manson-family, and never in my three previous times watching this clocked the last one. Any excuse to watch this again. It’s not Tarantino’s best film (that’s Jackie Brown), but it is his most rewatchable.

Face - watched it on Mubi, a crime caper from 1997 featuring a baby-faced Robert Carlisle and Ray Winstone. You’d think they could get a tune out of that script and direction with those two, but could they bollocks. Absolute rubbish. 2/10
