Along_the_Wire the kermode review nails. It’s a movie about Christmas and family, and the family is very annoying in this. Seriously don’t waste your time. I’m generally quite lenient with star children, but Scorsese’s daughter’s performance reeks of nepotism.

The Lighthouse (2019). Oh boy, I wish I’d gone see this in the theatre five years ago. Probably an experience to see with other people. Now it was just me and our cats. They seemed to enjoy the soundscapes. Great film to watch with surround sound.

Along_the_Wire yeah that’s the one. If nothing else it looks amazing. Eggers can conjure amazing visuals, can’t wait for his Nosferatu. I was also a big fan of The Northman, which is also a hugely divisive film. You either love it or hate it.

Withnail & I (1987). Another embarrassing first watch. I got this https://www.arrowfilms.com/withnail-and-i-blu-ray/11052365.html copy awhile ago from a sale for about 10 €, and finally watched it with some midday beers. Seemed appropriate. Well I fucking loved it. Colin Farrell says it’s his favorite love story, and that it really is. So many quotes I’d heard before, and of course the Halo Varga - Future sample.

Mank (2020). So much better on a rewatch. This viewing actively made me upset I could not see this in a movie theatre. Another new experience since the first time I watched this in 2020 was surround sound, and how the sound design in this film was erm… Designed so that the dialogue always echoes, like shown in movies about old timey movie theatre experiences. Considering this is a streaming only film I wonder how many can and or will experience that while watching this.
