Watched Anora last night. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to checking out Baker’s other flicks. 8.5 Armenian working Joes / 10

Flow was pretty good, but did feel hyped. The animation is poor, but you do feel that weird foreboding through out and youre definitely rooting for animals, even without any dialogue. If i was younger and without child, id have necked some magic mushrooms/acid for it. On the fence on whether i should take my 3 year old daughter for it.

Along_the_Wire Been wanting to watch this for years, ill check my apple account to see if its there

I genuinely wasnt expecting it but goddamn A Complete Unknown is rock solid. Musically amazing. Chalamet brilliant, the girl playing Baez and Norton too. Loved it. Watch it in the cinema, the concert music hall scenes deserve it.

Kinds Of Kindness 2024: 5/10

I like most of Yorgos Lanthimos’ recent outings (The Lobster, Poor Things) but I felt this fell short. It’s a triptych of different stories that I struggled to see how are connected save for the fact that there are emotionally abusive relationships in all 3. His usual muses return in the form of Willem Dafoe and Emma Stone and are joined by new A-listers Joe Alwyn and Margaret Qualley and an Ozempic’d Jesse Plemons. Has a few funny moments but lacks any significant cohesion and hence became background viewing while doing puzzles and reading the Stage 1 thread on here.

Wasily I liked it, but maybe it was the Emma Stone element…

Strange Darling (2023). I really liked this one, can’t say much about it because it really is best seen without knowing anything about it. The soundtrack sucked though.

The Gift (2000). Better known as the movie where Katie Holmes got her tits out at the peak of her fame. Sam Raimi does southern gothic. Not a very original movie by any metric, but all the actors are terrific in it. Even Keanu Reeves as a wife beater. Cate Blanchett is just the best always. Script half by Billy Bob Thornton.

    Flight Risk (2025)

My wife and I always struggle to agree on a film to watch (she flat out refuses to watch any kind of horror film) so we settled on this because ’it’s got that woman from Downton Abbey in it’.

Anyway……its a fairly preposterous plot involving a US Marshal transporting a witness to testify at a Mafia trial, in a small plane. Things go wrong and guess what, she has to land the plane herself (of course she does). Who would have thought it was so easy to do that eh?

Mickey 17 is a bit shit. More Okja than Parasite from the director.

The Monkey is good fun, but it could have been tighter. Things are all over the place second half.

Smallman1 fly a single combustion engine into a heavily jungled airfield, under immense pressure, at night, with compromised passengers?

I’m leaving the office right away.

LT42 Is this how you keep the romance alive with her indoors?

              Part of its charm!

              Lol!

Babygirl is literally one of the worst films I’ve ever seen, it’s fucking awful. It makes Eyes Wide Shite look like a fucking Oscar winner. 0/10

rhouses snack idea for next cinema trip.

                Millsy like Smallman’s worst nightmare

Double Indemnity - classic noir - really hammy and not a particularly great plot. I have no idea why this is held in such high regard, I guess for its time it was great, but you can’t judge it on that 70 years later. 4/10

Half Nelson - decent Ryan Gosling number about a teacher who’s addicted to narcs and booze and all goes surprisingly a bit wrong. Pretty horrible to watch. 7/10

Babel - was surprised after watching it that it wasn’t scoring in the 90s on Rotten Tomatoes. Four interlinked stories and all of them grim in their own little way. Iñárritu is class. 8/10
