seanc80 7.9 was a bit high, but I enjoyed the violence. And the mystery element where you’re wondering who the fuck is this guy. In retrospect, that pay off might have been a weak.
Venom Carnage: Pleasantly surprised at how entertaining this was. Venom sounds exactly like Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood, which makes his lines even funnier. I can barely do Marvel movies, but this was different. Script was decent and it’s pretty bad ass. Might have been swayed by Kermode’s review also. I hadn’t watched the first part, but I did after this, and it’s not very good. 7.8/10
The Last Duel: This was ok. Not good, not bad. I’m trying to understand why Matt Damon and Ben Affleck would be so passionate about doing a medieval story about rape with Ridley Scott. I feel like the intentions here are warped, both of them feeling bad about their connections to Harvey Weinstein with some forced feminism. The first two parts where they tell Damon’s and Driver’s POV were good. The third part, which is Comer’s character side, is so fucking on the nose and completely unnecessary. Apparently they hired a female writer to do it. The actual duel is decent and for what it’s worth, it’s pretty gripping after you’ve watched the rape. 7.3/10
Dune: Loved this. It’s Game of Thrones meets Star Wars. What’s not to love. Also, I’ve promised myself to watch all Villenueve, PT Anderson, and Tarantino movies in the cinema. This is definitely a movie you have to watch in the cinema. Pulled the trigger on the book as I walked out. Watched it in Gold Class, 2D. Watching it in 3D IMAX tomorrow. 9/10
