King Richard was very good. An oscar on the way for Will Smith. Also I fell asleep at the new Spiderman movie. Daytime movie and comfy seats it’s the standard for me now.

Along_the_Wire the holiday from hell! I quite liked it as a character study of a woman confronting her painful past and the pull between career and family but it was pretty heavy going. Some excellent performances and it was good to see Ed Harris back on screen. Eerie, unsettling film. 7/10

Malignant (2021, Amazon Prime, James Wan)

After three absolute turkeys - Venom: Let There Be Carnage, The Matrix Resurrections (I know, I know..) and The Humans - back-to-back over twixmas, it felt good to finally see something enjoyable.

Malignant is absolutely mental: old-school, tongue in cheek gory horror with loads of atmosphere and style and zero subtlety. Pure mindless entertainment. Great sound and visuals. Loved it. Would see it again.

We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011)

Not the easiet watch but I was in a bad mood so nail/head. Reilly and the soundtrack make a deeply fucked up movie somehow farcical at times. All in all, a solid movie from the era where people made movies like this, rather than an overwrought 10 episode series that needed serious editing. “I am the context”

Took my son to see Spider Man as he was going on and on about it. It didn’t disappoint in terms of how utterly ridiculous it was. Just a fanboy wet dream where every spidey reference was thrown at the screen to see what stuck. And Tobey Maguire was in it, which makes it an instant ⅒ contender.
