Jay Kelly (2025). I really wish this was better. The acting (especially Sandler) was everyone at their best, scenery and the cinematography was gorgeus, but too often this was a bit boring. Yet the ending moved me deeply. Frustrating movie.

I saw Die Hard with a hundred other people in a movie theatre last night. That was ace. LOTS of laughs. RIP Ellis, the true hero of Christmas.

The Rewatchables are doing High Fidelity (2000) next week, so I happily popped my Blu ray of it in the player tonight. God I love this movie. Rob Gordon is one of the greatest self absorbed assholes in movie history, yet John Cusack manages to make him so likeable. I think it’s his best role. It’s either this or Grosse Pointe Blank.

Watched Sinners - was actually enjoying it until, Inexplicably, the Chinese woman invited them all in - why do all horror films rely on something totally fucking stupid? Ruined it. 3/10

Gremlins (1984)
It is the season.
The bar-scene is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, just a gag after gag after gag. One of the best being that Phoebe Cates keeps serving the gremlins despite all that’s going on.

It’s A Wonderful Life

The crushing weight of capitalism becomes so great, God has to intervene; to his horror, Jimmy Stewart is given a vision of the world as it is today, and realises his 1940s small town entrapment is a much better option. I’m a bit biased as I like Stewart, but it’s still very watchable imo.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019). French lesbian romance set in the 19th century. Really good too! It was on a quite a few 25 for 25-lists, and I got intriqued. Plus I’m a big softie, and love an uncliched romance.

The Running Man (2025)

Completely agree with @Homegrove review from earlier. A total disappointment of a film. It could have been so much better. It was cartoonish at times I felt. So many plot holes as well.

Not a patch on the Arnie original.
