Finally watched Marty Supreme, delivered in a big way. Slight bias with the table tennis history; but as a whole it just about pips One Battle; in terms of craft, soundtrack/monster needle drops, storyline/script, and timmy vs leo. Stellar casting between Paltrow, Kevin o leary, Odessa, and a lot of the supporting. Kinda disagree with the comparisons with Uncut Gems and Sandler which was grating and ridiculously uncomfortable (do love movies that pull this off) - this is way more palatable, easy to digest, and far more endearing. Not gonna lie, couple of tears at the end. Felt like a true American classic and flawless. 9.7 / 10
Dressed to Kill: Was on my watch list after listening to the rewatchables podcast around Blow Out. This isnt nearly as good in terms of plot or performances, but holy shit it’s fucking crazy and it almost felt millsy pervy watching it. Twist might have worked in the 80s, but immediately called it from the get go, which kinda ruins it. Did read this was meant to be some sort of erotic dark comedy, there were quite a few moments you’re thinking was I supposed to laugh at that? Wouldn’t really recommend this, but if you’re a hardcore De Palma fan, you gotta watch it as some sort of weird, borderline surreal thriller. 5.8 / 10
