Bit unfair, cj. I don’t think sean was ever convicted of those accusations and managed to stay off the register.
Watched ‘Chinatown’ for the first time last night. Great flick but loses marks for a notable lack of superheroes with super powers making things explode.
Wally LOL - great film that. Jack Nicholson’s broken nose is the standout for me.
It does have one of the best villains ever in it though.
Saint Maud… about a palliative care nurse looking after a woman dying of a cancer. Former starts losing by the plot and interfering in her life. Basically a horror film along the lines of Carrie. Thought it was well made and acted, and had some genuinely scary moments. 7.5/10
Jules72 where did you see it mate?
Borat 2 - flat in parts but with some amusing scenes… worth watching though for Giuliani trying to get it on with Borats sister….7/10
Jules72 his daughter, not his sister. The father daughter dance at the ball had me watching through my fingers, like a horror film!
Jules72 Tried watching it yesterday but binned after 20 mins. Will give it another go at go weekend.
Dubman definitely not as good as the first one, but worth watching. i found it got better as it went along.
Along_the_Wire Odeon… completely empty.. would have gone to the Curzon but time didn’t work
Get Carter, still boss, five bottle of Newcie Brown out of five, Cain at his moody best. The idea that they tried to remake it with Stallone is mad. Also, forgot the scene where they go to the ‘Big Beat’ night, no Fat Boy in sight.
Amps …Brown Ale fact: only referred to as ‘Newkie Brown’ outside the NE, known in the Toon as ‘THE DOG’.
Still love the ‘eyes like piss holes in the snow’ line in Get Carter. Great film.
Prime Britt Ekland too “You’re a big man, but you’re in bad shape. With me it’s a full time job. Now behave yourself” Great quote.
You don’t see too many films either where the main protagonist doesn’t win in the end. Refreshingly dark stuff.
The aforementioned Chinatown comes to mind in that regard.
My favorite bleak ending is The Mist though.
Oh and also got onto the sniper being in the train carriage with him on the way to Newcastle, almost too subtle.
Never clocked that. Seen it loads of times but been a good ten years since I last watched it. That final scene on the beach is bleak with the slag being dumped into the sea iirc
Yeah, it’s a pretty dark movie for the most part, same beach they used for the opening of Alien3, say no more.
-si- Trial of the Chicago 7 - Giving it a solid seven and a half Molotov cocktails out of ten. Probably the best Netflix film I have seen. Actually felt like a film, rather than a made for TV vibe.
