Homegrove that was my thought too, wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad.

watched captain fantastic last night and really enjoyed it. looks like i’ll have to give soul a shot, was planning to watch avatar again too.

Falling. Blimey. A really dark film, amusing in parts, difficult to watch and hear in others. But powerful stuff - 8/10

Parasite - finally managed to find the time to sit down to it and wasn’t disappointed. Great flick. Sharp thought provoking script and brilliant direction. Can’t ask for more than that. 9 hosts / 10

C_J it’s not for everyone, LOL. The gay son element is almost the funny part - it’s centred around the dad and his unravelling.

Lance Henriksson is a fucking legend anyway.

      Everest (2015, downloaded)

True story of 1996 disaster starring Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington, Emily Watson & Keira Knightley.

Found this a bit of an uphill struggle if I’m honest. Quite sad.

      5/10

        Black Bear (2020, Amazon Prime)

Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott, Sarah Gadon.

A film-maker stays at a remote lake-house with a couple and they sit around and have an argument and then some other weird stuff happens. The first half was alright then it just pretty much turns to some sort of meta-shit. Whatever they were trying to do here was lost on me.

This is pretty well reviewed but I wouldn’t recommend it.

        5/10

        The Lodge (2019, downloaded)

Richard Armitage trades wife Alicia Silverstone in for new bit of stuff Riley Keough then puts her and his kids into what appears to be an old house somewhere close to the North Pole and fucks off back to work. As you do.

This is a slow-burning atmospheric psychological thriller. The first half in particular was brilliantly done and I felt totally immersed but it failed to fully deliver. Still really good overall.

        8/10

          Christ, i’m old. 😞

          The Nest (2020, downloaded)

Jude Law and Carrie Coon play a well-off couple who move with their kids from NY to a Surrey mansion in the 80’s. Law lives above his means and slowly drowns in debts.

This is a slowish, gripping drama that felt like a throwback to those random low-budget high-quality films you would stumble across as a kid. It worked for me. I think Grant might like this.

          As did they.

          Take my wife!

The Lodge and The Nest sound like my kind of films, cheers CJ. Hold tight for feedback etc

Wally also got round to this yesterday evening. Thought it was good but not great. Was hoping it would wow me like Oldboy did, but I thought the ending was incredibly lame.

Inside Out. After enjoying Soul, went for another Pixar number. Enjoyable and very funny in parts. The endless peril you get with some Pixar films gets a bit tedious sometimes. 7/10
