Along_the_Wire watched this with the Boy this afternoon, great Sunday afternoon film.
Anybody seen Wake In Fright? If us is the 1971 version the one to watch or is there a newer remake?
Wasn’t aware there was a remake, the original was thought to be lost but was discovered and remastered….it’s really good.
Homegrove that’s funny, hope it works out for them. wonder if he compromised and is using safety gear now.
303abuser amazing documentary, the bloke is a true nutter, but fair play to him. Dawn Wall is decent too
RichM Dawn wall is good. Same mountain, fixed ropes & two people. No where near as risky.
RichM yeah i liked that one too. maybe once this covid thing is under control i’ll attempt some indoor climbing and see what it’s like. not built for it, but seems like i’d get injured less often than playing soccer.
Dubman yeah but they took a harder route up iirc. In Free Solo most of the route is via that fucking great split in the granite.
Yours, Edmund Hillary
Dubman
If you haven’t, I do hope you get to see Yosemite in the flesh. Pictures might capture the beauty, but they never capture the scale. El Capitan and Half Dome are gigantic beyond belief.

Prepare to find new pain in new muscles you didn’t know you had. Much harder than it looks.
Millsy I watched Dawn wall before Free solo and was blown away it. Free Solo took it to another level. It’s like those mountaineers who climb Everest with added oxygen.

Had no idea you were such a mountaineer Millsy!
Amps oh i’m sure of that. just need to get rid of the soccer injuries. in the last 5 years i’ve torn my mcl twice, meniscus once, broken foot, chipped tooth, and another 35 smaller injuries. getting too old for this stuff.
do you climb?
303abuser Done a little bit, off and on, not very good, but quite enjoy it.
jonattonyeah I’d love to but not sure when. I think I may have one more Trek in the Himalayas to the Karakorums to see K2.
Well if you have the wills and the ables at some point for Yosemite, shoot me a PM. I’ll get you sorted with the best way to go about it. HINT: staying outside the park is often the best plan.
jonattonyeah Yosemite is definitely on my bucket list. It looks incredible
the king of staten island was surprisingly good. didn’t know it was judd apatow until the credits, so that would explain it.
Meru is an excellent climbing film. Same director as Free Solo. Also has some proper nutty bits in it, like a guy getting his head split open in an accident during a break in their attempt to scale it, and still coming back.
My last big climb was Snowdonia.
Makes El Capitan look like a walk in the park.
Smallman1 Be honest. Did you get the train up.
I didn’t.
I did get the train up to Macchu Picchu though but that’s only because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to have seen the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.
What a life I’ve led!
Smallman1 the lakes in Bolivia are incredible… been twice
