Millsy 😆
I watched ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou’ over the weekend. I’m not sure what to make of it to be honest? What a strange film that is. I didn’t think it was bad, but then again I’m not saying it was that good either. Clearly had all the Coen quirks to it.
gcw the Coen brothers really have made a very mixed bunch of films… can’t say I was into most, but then No Country for Old Men came along
Jules72 Great film
Jules72 great film. He’s up there with Darth Vader and Thanos as the big screens greatest villains for me
Watched the Truman Show with the kids yesterday… once again they were really sceptical (wanting to watch Spider-Man) but ended up loving it. It’s great having a crap memory - can’t remember what happens in any of these films
Jules72 How bizarre - did the same thing yesterday. Great film that.
I love most Coen Bros movies, The Big Lebowski closely followed by No Country For Old Men for me
LT42 Yup, Burn After Reading has to be in there
Along_the_Wire were you shedding a tear at the end Grant?! 🥺
Along_the_Wire not one for after the pub
Millsy K Pax is one of his best films, and obviously American Beauty.
o brother is terrible
Christian I thought it was quite clever.
Re: the Coens, no one appears to have mentioned Fargo. Stone wall classic. Big fan of Raising Arizona too
Re: Spacey, I still think Swimming with Sharks is one of his best.
alistair Yeah Fargo is brilliant, just watched it a few weeks ago too, for about the 6th or 7th time. Buscemi steals the show for me.
“Shut up back there, or else, you know, we’ll have to kill yeh”
Only Coen-movie I didn’t like was Inside Llewyn Davis. Maybe I just didn’t understand it. To me it was just two hours of Oscar Isaac being a dick.
Jules72 It’s a cracking ending, that’s for sure.
nicksneddon
Two all timer performances in Bardem and DDL for TWBB that year. Shooting right down the road from each other, no less.

Hard nope from me, my man. Pitt is a firm third. I’ll take an argument for Freeman over Spacey - that’s fine - but Pitt is too much of buffoon to be considered a Seven winner to my mind. Just to be ridiculous, I might even put him fourth. Our girl Gwyneth is a thunderbabe in it. And her head is the most important part of the film.
