Hursty I think the Zaskar was probably out of my price range.

The Outpost, Outback and Timberline were the entry-level GTs IIRC, about £300-£500, which was quite a lot in those days.

Anything more and you were literally asking to get it robbed in Warrington, even if you kept it locked in the shed the cunts would break in for something like that.

Watching the Paris to Nice road race and was wondering how fast they ride on the straight roads.

Dubman a flat road race would typically be 44-48kmh, but they can go fucking fast in sections of that if chasing down or attacking.

Dubman On a flat course with light wind, I can do a 10m TTs at 30/31mph and 25m TTs about 28/29mph

A flat road race or crit at about 27mph. I did RideLondon at just over 25mph for 100 miles in 2016 - there’s about 1,200m of climbing in that though.

Feel filthy talking about cycling in imperial measures.

Along_the_Wire I did the ride london 46 at 20 mph (which included a stop half way to fill up water bottle and munch a flapjack) the last time it was on and I was hammering it on the way in swapping on / off with some very speedy groups - which was great fun. I’ve done the 100 as well (very slowly) and 25 mph is superhuman. I’d done my back in at Glastonbury a month or so before and was proper suffering when I did it…

I’ll average 21mph for a solo 1 hour ride.

but I’ll be pooped after. Grant is a different gravy.

Still sounds impressive. Grant seems like a semi-pro. I done the BHF London to Brighton off road challenge a few years ago which was 72 miles and took about 6hrs

My average speed on Strava last year including commutes and pissing around was 31kmh. I love it though and generally train hard - you get massive improvements with structured training.

What are peoples thoughts on this for a bike to commute to station and do a bit of weekend cycling around the countryside roads. Am not looking for speed, so not looking for a road bike, but will plan on doing the odd 50-60 mile rides. Don’t want to spend too much as will leave it at the station for a few days when commenting to work

RichM Looks alright that to be fair. Dunno about how useful it would be on a 50mile ride - certainly wouldn’t really want to do something particularly hilly. Great for commutes and the like - the internal gearing will massively help in terms of minimal maintenance
