Along_the_Wire it’s the first thought that entered my mind and I was wondering if Küng was thinking the same, it was such a dominating and powerful ride but I don’t know enough about the sport to make a judgement either way, I hope it isn’t the case. I was a little gutted for Küng as he was flawless and so composed as you said, G. Pogacar beat most guys who rode very well by almost a minute, seems super human.

LT42 He did the same to win the Tour last year though, absolutely smoked the filed to take the title.

Doping is definitely still rife but I would expect the authorities to be all over Pogacar and his peers.

There is a crop of youth coming through now are genuinely in a different league in my opinion, whether that’s training regimes or doping who knows, but you see it across all sports.

It’s unfortunate that a genuinely good ride will raise questions, the spectre of the Armstrong days will take a while to wash off. Interesting watching the playback today, nobody even mentioned Pogacar as a threat to Küng’s ride, most had Van Aert or Asgreen.

LT42 No one had him for the win? Incredible, he won the tour by himself pretty much, no team train to help, just pure talent and determination. He also proved his TT prowess too so perhaps the pundits need to readjust their predictions 😆

Hursty I think just on the day they expected van Aert or one or two others. Was Pogacar involved in one of the earlier crashes? I think that may be why

Watched highlights of the last 10k again, Alaphillipe is some team mate to have, selfless over the last few days.

Who should I watch out for on the climbs over the weekend?

LT42 Alaphillipe for today I reckon, but Pogacar, Roglic, Thomas and usual mob for the proper mountains. Reckon Ineos will start going after stages soon, so Geoghegan Hart and Carapaz will come into play.

Crazy how that break was left to go up the road - UAE aren’t strong enough to bring these guys back. VDP won’t be finishing the Tour so he doesn’t really matter I suppose, but Nibali must be licking his lips - hope he has the minerals for the rest of the tour.
