Along_the_Wire cf hurstys comment about youth taking over as a general rule.
apyssjw gotcha. You don’t peak in cycling til your late 20s and early 30s, like most sports. Roglic is 31

Bang on it.
Some ride from Alaphilippe up to now, absolute beast.
Grant, fair play for doing these climbs, beautiful but fuck me does it look tough.
FULL KIT WANKERS
He is human
Van Aert was unbelievable to be fair. The mental strength needed to go up to the top of that mountain and then do it all again a half hour later! So impressive.
LT42 The first ascent is actually pretty easy apart from the last few kms. From Bedouin, it’s different gravy - straight roads 10-14%
Along_the_Wire It got the better of Pogacar too, I didn’t think I’d see it after he stuck to Vengegaard’s wheel when he started to break away. O’Connor did well to claw his way back, he was going in reverse at one point.
I don’t remember the pace of the Tour being this high before, is it normal for road races now? Soon as the flag waved they were off!
LT42 yup, speeds have stabilised for a while now - attacks from the off are common and if anyone is in the attack that’s a competitor for a jersey, the appropriate team or teams chase hard.
Stunning scenery during today’s race so far. A cycle through those towns is on the bucket list.
What more can you say about Cavendish? simply superb racing.
LT42 I’ve been off grid. Fuck my old boots. He’s equaled the stage win record. I hope he does it before, but breaking the record in Paris? Fuck me
Along_the_Wire Catch the highlights when you can, incredible. Hair raising final 15k, very dangerous streets, heart in mouth stuff.
Just watched them, what a ride from Cav and the quick step team, absolutely awesome.
Alaphilipe has been doing some stuff for the team but their work all week at the front of the group has been really impressive when needed. So impressive to watch.
LT42 This is why the team dynamic is so important. Alaphillipe was the leader and the Tour was set up for him to win (the organisers are desperate for a French winner - been over 30 years?). Once he fell, they’ve gone all-in on green and the record. It’s genuinely incredible - he had form, and a lot of great sprinters are out, but fucking hell.
Can we have the exciting tour back please?
Great ride by Mollema yesterday and top bloke all round.
Hursty it’s great today, Hursty!
