Who the fuck to believe anymore with this shit, nothing but mixed messages. There is quiet a few articles out there confirming what Jules said.

zackster That Topol guy has been a fear monger from the jump.

Eric Topol? Epic TOOL more like. Amirite?

Bollocks… that study is based on U.K. data so far… and there’s v little evidence from this country… the negativity bias at work again. To ignore the South African data is just not credible

Your best bet is to read what the Guardian has to say about and multiple their numbers by 0.1 for something that is a more likely scenario.

Are we not going to base our opinions on how this has panned out in SA, given they are quite a bit ahead of us, in addition to the fact that we have a much, much higher % of people double jabbed/boosted? I will look at this optimistically until it’s proven otherwise. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and quite rightly so but i think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill with Omicron.

By the way the Imperial study bases it’s results on 1) the proportion of those testing positive who report symptoms and 2) the proportion of positives who end up seeking hospital care….. the first is meaningless because it’s severe infections that matter and the second - in South Africa hospitalisations themselves have been moderate (but not small) but a lot of those were in hospital for a much shorter time (vs the previous delta wave)… you might also have an overly paranoid Joe public right now that has a lower threshold to seek help after the implementation of project fear.

Watch ICU numbers… that’s what really matters imo

According to my journalist sources, the cabinet are agonising over closing pubs etc before or after Christmas. How about neither, you cunts?

Shit, that’s tough mate. Hope you are all well. Time to break out the Xmas vino I think.

Looks like they don’t marry up you vaccination status, on further reading, I’m exempt. Thank fuck for that.

Jules72 you might also have an overly paranoid Joe public right now that has a lower threshold to seek help after the implementation of project fear.

The news has been fucking woeful over the last week or two, negative as fuck!

Some of this reporting is flat out ridiculous. “No evidence” of this followed by “limited data” that. Shut the fuck up already. All they’re doing is causing confusion and panic.

We had a bunch of health workers attend a wedding, all vaccinated and boosted - all got breakthrough cases with high viral loads. You know what? They’re all perfectly fine, barely any symptoms, and haven’t passed it on to anyone. That is a fact.

Many of the cases that are being found are being found because of required testing for travelling, not because they’re sick. That is a fact.

Viruses mutate, viruses change. That’s what they do. The only reason we’re hearing so much about these changes is because it’s being studied up the wazoo (in real time) and the media is following its “bleeds/leads” script.

If you’re immunocompetent and vaccinated, you don’t have to worry. The vaccine is holding up against hospitalization and death. So there. If you’re not vaccinated well that’s just your problem at this point. For the immunocompromised, they have to be more careful…unfortunately life isn’t fair.

If this results in ANYTHING CLOSE to where we were last year I will personally shoot myself in the face. FACT.

jonattonyeah For the immunocompromised, they have to be more careful…unfortunately life isn’t fair.

On the upside, get well looked after on the vaccine front.

Positively fizzing, if only for a week or two!!

jonattonyeah “ Some of this reporting is flat out ridiculous. “No evidence” of this followed by “limited data” that. Shut the fuck up already. All they’re doing is causing confusion and panic.”… exactly - a lot of people are likely to lose a lot of credibility in the coming weeks

jonattonyeah should be interesting to see if there’s any uptick after this weekend there, Metallica doing two nights in Chase Center celebrating their 40th anniversary. Everyone needs to be vaccinated (which is why Jim Breuer won’t be hosting like he did the 30th), but there will be fans from all over the world.

                Homegrove

SFDPH has been overly cautious throughout all of this. It’s why we’ve done so well (that and people actually doing what’s asked of them). If there was any major concern about the concert, they would pull the plug in two seconds. Chase has also been packed for Warriors basketball games for a month-plus now.

If you’re vaccinated, you’re good to go. Will be interesting to see how they handle vaccine cards not from California. Here we use an app that is linked to an EMR. You can’t fudge that with a fake card. They might just do LF tests for those where there’s any question or concern.

And we’re expecting an uptick in cases and hospitalizations over the next few weeks due to the holidays. That’s just how it’s going to go. That’s okay given we’re likely to have the capacity to address it.
