If it’s 20-50% less likely a positive case will end up experiencing ‘severe disease’ there only need to be 20%-50% more cases for hospital admissions to balance out at similar peaks to the top of the delta wave. Have I got that right?

      vinnyt77 that’s certainly my biggest concern. Omicron might burn itself out quickly, and be mostly harmless, but it’s not good if half the country has it at the same time, and are away from work. That could become a huge problem, hence the restrictions we have now again.

          Homegrove which is what I alluded to about healthworkers and the strain on hospitals last week but it fell on death ears. Its ok though have you seen the percentages yet? Lol

            I meant also outside of health workers. Not everyone can work from home with SNIFFLES.

                                alistair Yeah - think there was a disclaimer on timing / efficacy of boosters towards the bottom of the summary. Might be an artefact of the double vax + booster combo being so powerful against Delta, that Omicron is the only variant of note/risk?

                                  Booster jab done this morning. Really hope no side effects as I got to do the Xmas dinner tomorrow lunchtime.

                                    Got to say I have an issue using boosters that were designed for the original strain… there is clearly a big drop in efficacy and boosters apparently will only last 2-3 months before protection drops off substantially… we can take these vaccines every month at an extreme but that of course is unlikely to be healthy… much better to get these vaccines modified for the current strains so we only have to take them once a year

                                      RichM I had the Pfizer vaccine for my booster. Dead arm for a coupla days, and had a really weird fever/shakes episode in the middle of the night - about 15 hours after I had the jab. Lasted 4-5 hours, then was fine again. First two jabs were AZ… 👍️
