Jules72 Smallman1 meeh.. nice houses but dull as fuck… only consolation is Brixton down the road. Unless aggressive yummy mummies in range rovers is your thing.
jonattonyeah Smallman1 Peckham Loved Peckham. Short walk over the hill and some damn good cheap eats. A bit hardscrabble but nothing compared to some of the places I’ve been in the States. ’Though the fellow I was staying with did get chased down the road by a group of unrulies for his new PS3. He got away.
Smallman1 Tremendous spot Peckham. Has an edge but nothing a tough customer brought up in Hampton Court can’t handle.
Along_the_Wire Jules72 One of my biggest ever regrets was living with my bird at the time in West Hampstead back in the mid 90s and we were going to buy a beautiful split level two bedroom flat a couple of minutes from the tube - we split up and I couldn’t be arsed going through with the purchase. £58k. What a cunt.
Jules72 Along_the_Wire the pad I owned in Hampstead went up 150% over ten years…. I’m in the market now for a house finally and fck me the market is spiralling upwards here in Wimbledon… the utter shite people are trying to sell for ridiculous prices would be hilarious if I wasn’t a buyer. If it wasn’t for the kids I’d probably be buying in the centre - assuming we get a vaccine over the next six months this exodus to the suburbs might be over soon.
Smallman1 Had no idea you were in Wimbledon Jules, what with me living in highfalutin rooting and a Tooting we’re practically neighbours!
Smallman1 Spent a lot of time in Wimbledon Village growing up. The Crooked Billet, Rose & Crown and The Dog & Fox were my main hangouts. Great part of the world, if a little sanitised.
Jules72 Smallman1 the one place that sums it up for me is Hemingway’s - a few days before lockdown it was full of idiots doing karaoke…. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty area, but it really is full of wealthy inward looking Brexiters.
hugopal Jules72 a higher proportion of young people have been getting tested across recent months though - in earlier months it was mostly people who were already ill getting tested, who were more likely to be old, whereas increasingly they’ve been testing more people including those coming back from holiday or those who have come in to contact with others who have been infected, irregardless of whether they were symptomatic.
