Jules72 Almost anyone who works in law enforcement will tell you laws are fairly pointless unless they are consistently enforced.
So to add bad laws to the statute book that we don’t have the intention or resources to enforce is really just a ridiculous waste of time.
It’s not something the UK is generally known for, it’s more what happens in developing countries who haven’t quite grasped the idea that simply adding more stuff to the statute books doesn’t automatically make people follow laws. In fact, it just becomes a shakedown opportunity for bent cops who selectively enforce to get backhanders.
