Jules72 Imagine the app pings every time you walk past someone who has covid… that’s not how you develop the disease

That isn’t how the app works though mate. Close proximity for 15 minutes triggers an alert.

If you read the facts, rather than imagine them, it’s easier to get a better grasp of these things 🙂

Wally Are you 100% data secure on everything else you use Wal?

Jules72 its not been developed by Matt Hancock. Do your bit and download it!

Mad_Cyril Happy to download if the technology works… But you are not going to know that until it’s in use for a while.

btw Singapore moved away from Apple/google mobile tracing…. why? And has this app solved the problems the Singaporeans discovered? You don’t need to have much of an imagination to have a good stab at answering that.

Jules72 you’re not going to find out how it works if you don’t download it.

Imagining how it works isnt quite the same.

And possibly as daft as the mask muppets that wind you up so much.

      Get on board brother ✊

Mad_Cyril haha I’ll find out by reading the reports on its successes/failures and stories of you lot self-isolating…. anyway at the end of the day I’m pretty sure I’ll download it. Funny thing is a few months ago (pre government fck ups) I’d have done so without hesitation

Another hypothetical situation for you.. you go to a restaurant at 6pm, register on the app, eat and leave at 7 with no one having sat next to you. Someone with covid turns up at 9pm, registers and the next day tests positive. You will have to isolate for 2 weeks. The problem is that you are unable to check out of places…. a total waste of your two weeks.

Had a skilled nursing facility mass testing event over the weekend. 79 resident, 68 positive. Utter shitshow - just after I read the manager the riot act last week around their behavior. Still waiting on staff results. Staff are a bigger pain as we know where the residents are. Everything is tracked by county so if someone works in SF but lives in Alameda or San Mateo County, it becomes a jurisdictional issue and communication isn’t always great when it comes to contact tracing

Largely Jewish populace and they kept meeting in rooms to plan Rosh Hashanah events. I get it. They’re old and stuck in their ways. Their faith and the events that surround are probably what keep them going. But it’s on the staff to manage their needs along with their health, which they’re not doing.

California has a tiered system for what can be open. They might single-handedly bump SF County down a tier if there are hospitalizations. Shame is we’re doing great around here. Far better than any other major city in the US. More testing. Lower positivity (<4 per 100K/day - we were at 13-16 in July).

jonattonyeah Yikes….that sucks man! We’re just barely staying in the red tier down here but in my area, things are fine too. But places like National City and Chula Vista were hit hard and continue to struggle. Plus, lots of beach activity down here too, where people aren’t careful.

More great news today. I get a chest X-Ray every month due to ongoing post-Covid chest issues and the radiologist didn’t like what they saw last week. Came by again today and….pulmonary fibrosis! Nothing too major and nothing that can be done, but there goes my trip to the top of Everest for the rest of my life. God damn it.

I am so sorry to hear that. Hopefully treatments or the like present themselves.

jonattonyeah sorry to hear mate… you going to be able to exercise? I pretty much depend on running to stay healthy - would hate not to be able to

              Jules72
              With the NHS App?

See what I said earlier about close proximity for 15 minutes.

If you’ve left, your Bluetooth keys won’t register the proximity.

So what purpose does checking out serve?

                jonattonyeah

Fuck sake mate. Sorry to hear that. You had a rough one with the virus.

Sorry to hear that Jonatton - that’s shit man. Hopefully it can be reversed / improve at some point

Sorry to hear that Jon mate.

Old-Dutch How many on here have actually downloaded the Track and Trace app, out of interest?

                I have Dutch.

Mad_Cyril this is registering under track/trace when you enter the pub/restaurant …
