Along_the_Wire rhouses If you read the Guardian regularly, it has way more negative coverage of the crisis than other publishers. I’m sick of it, so stopped.
Millsy Along_the_Wire I must admit I also prefer the sunnier stories related to COVID19 deaths and long term side effects.
Along_the_Wire Millsy It’s not that, it’s just overwhelming and it highlights really fucking stupid stories like ‘Key workers at higher risk’, ‘Global Infections pass 12m’ etc
bosstrabs I’ll be honest, I’m quite startled/scared about the long term effects of even a ‘mild’ dose. I don’t think it’s Guardian scaremongering at all - it’s worth knowing about.
Along_the_Wire bosstrabs It’s the boy that cried wolf syndrome, it gets lost in all the other bollocks.
Millsy Yeah, personally I would rather not catch it until there’s a) a vaccine or b) workable treatments that prevent me going on a ventilator and potentially dying and/or suffering long term health side effects.
Mad_Cyril Millsy Yeah, personally I would rather not catch it until there’s a) a vaccine I’d hope one wouldn’t be able to catch it post vaccine!
Mad_Cyril Millsy You said you would rather not catch it until there’s a vaccine. A vaccine is preventative. You can’t catch C19 if the vaccine works. Was supposed to be a joke, now I’m sounding like a fucking troll. Will get me coat!!
rhouses Even the stories around vaccines is sounding pretty grim. Africans already complaining that they’re being targeted as guinea pigs by corporations who are absolutely milking all of this financially. Also hearing about young folk who are part of the testing process, injecting themselves with COVID to be guinea pigs for vaccines.
Millsy Mad_Cyril you can still catch it. The vaccine just means you have an antibody response. Actually, you’re right as COVID19 refers to the reaction in the body. You troll cunt you.
Along_the_Wire What the fuck? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/10/uk-has-opted-out-of-eu-coronavirus-vaccine-programme-sources-say?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Hursty Along_the_Wire The article says it didn’t offer anything above what the Oxford Astra Zeneca scheme was doing for the UK, so what is the issue?
Along_the_Wire Hursty It’s a very small price to pay to have two horses in a race. And you trust this fucking government anyway?
Hursty Along_the_Wire I’m guessing due to the amount of debt this country is getting into due to COVID it was a choice between pursuing the homegrown scheme which is world class, or pumping more money into another scheme which the country doesn’t have?
Along_the_Wire Hursty it’s buttons, Hursty. The government have wasted billions on furlough - they should’ve controlled that better and simply not allowed profitable business to make quick and easy cost-savings. It’s unforgivable. And now this is a waste of money? Get to fuck (government, not you)
Hursty Along_the_Wire yeah I see your point, It appears the main reason for joining is to access more financial clout when bargaining with the drugs companies for any supplies required. I can see sense in that, but this decision has obviously been tainted by Brexit, thus we got it alone.
