Kells77 Smallman1 If it’s a Thai restaurant based on the fare you can buy on Khao San road (taking a guess based on the name), I’d say it’s probably not top quality Thai, but drunken tourist quality. 😂
Smallman1 I’ll just leave this here - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/may/01/jay-rayner-restaurant-review-kaosan
Kells77 Smallman1 edit: I STILL don’t know who the person that wrote the article is (even after you mentioned he’s a respected critic - never heard of him). But I looked at the menu and the pictures of their food and it looks decent. Not top notch, but not drunken, tourist food either. 🙂
Mad_Cyril Kells77 Jay Rayner is your typical ballbag food critic. The fact the review is from 2011 tells you everything you need to know
Smallman1 Mad_Cyril Jay Rayner is your typical ballbag food critic. The fact the review is from 2011 tells you everything you need to know Didn’t have you down as culinary man MC I must say. More more meat and potatoes if anything.
gcw Jay Rayner once presented me with a winners award at a staff event a few years back. Had never heard of him until that day. Is that a klang?!
Kells77 Smallman1 I’ll remember that if I’m ever allowed to leave the country again. 🙂 In the meantime, I’m glad I know how to make all my favorite Thai dishes myself.
Smallman1 Thai food is the British cuisine of Asia, functional, effective but lacks the ole je ne sais quoi. If one wants to educate ones culinary palette there is only one place to go, Japan.
jonattonyeah Smallman1 Japan Korean. Japanese with less fuss. Also, if I ate Japanese every day (which I would) I’d have golf ball-size mercury lesions in my head, to match the disco biscuit ones I gave myself years ago. Can’t speak to North Korean cuisine, mind.
Smallman1 Remember having a Sunday Roast in Wicklow Town and there were 3 different types of potato present, including mash. Didn’t know what to say.
Jules72 Went to various bars and pubs around Putney… the bar we ended up with wasn’t implementing the track and trace system (illegal?), and I gave the owner a load of shit at the end of the night. Moved onto another bar that was a bit more safety conscious. But from what I’ve seen tonight winter/second wave is coming and it will be devastating here.
Jules72 Hilarious bit was the owner acting as if he didn’t know of the track and trace system… utter fucking manure
Hursty Smallman1 Lol I agree, although commendable behaviour, he does seem to be out looking for violations of the law no matter what the situation is. I get the feeling he’d grass his own family up given the opportunity 😂
Along_the_Wire Smallman1 Like Jules, he’s sound. Although it’s not a legal requirement to track and trace, they should, but by not doing it, they won’t be shutdown if there’s an outbreak.
