benson This is being blown out of proportion in my view. I really hope I’m right.
Why do you think that?
Ten percent of the plane testing positive? Doesn’t strike me that they’re doing the appropriate tests and checks

Who would have thought a fully open, club pumping England would be one of the safest places on the planet?
Thank Christ some of us live on this most wonderful of islands.
Seems to be a lot of knees jerking and jumping to conclusions.
ITV news this a.m. was like another apocalypse has arrived, but they were solely focused on infection rates.
Load of aul shite
If 10% of the plane were positive then there are clearly more than 2.5k cases a day in South Africa.
Also it means there are loads more positive people than we know about and they are not showing up at the hospitals. So it maybe it isn’t all that bad.
Plus all this stuff is based on a very small number of actual positive tests that are confirmed variant.
People should focus on vaccination rather than fear.

Cool, thanks for filling me in

Same thing was said in an SFDPH email sent out this morning.
All arrivals into the UK now need a PCR test and must self isolate until negative result is returned. This really fucks things for me.
All arrivals from anywhere.
alistair Yup. Back to a version of the previous arrivals rules. You should be able to get a PCR test on arrival at the airport, and will then need to self-isolate (but can be at home) until the result is returned. Hopefully no more than 24 hours…
And that’s irrespective of vaccinated status.
Pain in the ass, but I think is a sensible move at this fairly early stage…
Yup, booked my T5 arrival test for 28th December. Otherwise I am fucked for work. And I feel quite strongly that I should not be missing any work to go on holiday
Luckily, I have a PCR test waiting at home for when I return from New York
alistair I think it’ll have to done by a third party and certified. That’s what it was a month ago
Along_the_Wire appreciate the advice but there many reputable companies selling home PCR kits.
I used Randox Health.
Which was nice.
