bosstrabs 81.5% of over-12s have been fully vaccinated.
I suspect the 18.5% might become the biggest problem.

Johnson is bound to hit the panic button this week before the mooted 27th circuit breaker… so predictable- what a complete fckng moron
Found this article interesting, not sure if it’s a similar case back home or in the UK, but it points to a potential dicey situation in hospitals if a variant such as this can tear through a population. Mild or not, if you test positive as a healthcare worker, you ain’t going to work.

zackster There’s nothing authoritarian about closing the borders, quarantining people and stopping intercity travel during a pandemic.
It’s worked remarkably successfully, and the quarantine is really quite humane.
And the outcome is free movement, within densely populated cities, right now.
I’ll tell you what’s the most fucking authoritarian thing too, forcing people to vaccinate.
The US and UK are way further down that road than China.
Also helps that they had a massive head start while simultaneously working to cover the out break up. If the dirty fucks had closed their boarders instead of slithering over to Italy this all could have been avoided.
Straw man argument. What’s working now? Not the US and the UK, that’s for sure.
We cant! We’ve been attacked by a biological weapon from the red east!

bosstrabs No one is forcing these cunts.
alistair and where’s your evidence for this imminent spike in UK covid hospitalisations that is going to collapse the NHS.
Are you devoid of any sort of caution? Considering what the world has gone through, would a vaguely cautious approach right now not be prudent? Or is it a ’fuck everyone that’s not me’ attitude because you are desperate to see the economy flourishing again so your dividend payments go back up?
He just doesn’t get it is all. A healthcare system under stress only accomodates covid patients, every other category of patient can fuck off, it seems.
You should all just move here. Everything is open and rip roaring

I’m anticipating that the mildness of omicron, combined with its capacity to out-compete delta while providing antibodies to those who catch it while not falling seriously ill, will lead to the sensible approach ultimately being that it should be embraced, and that Europe’s decisions to try and shut their borders and lockdown harder to prevent its spread now (while they’re still in the middle of a Delta wave) will end up looking as foolish as their failing to open up in the summer to Delta as per the UK.
Omicron appears to have been widespread in the UK for a while now, and there are still no signs whatsoever that it’s leading to significant hospitalisations.
Omicron appears to be the virus having followed the “Russian flu” to common cold, more deadly to more mild evolutionary cycle. However, it would not surprise me if governments are unwilling to let that fact be discovered, as it will make it even more difficult to justify their continuing stranglehold on populations.
I think this new vax campaign might actually make an impact
