Millsy will certainly help feed the grievance narrative.

i had to endure a zoom call with the in-laws at the weekend. they claim the whole thing is a conspiracy theory and that the test centres are not busy, masks dont protect you and its just seasonal flu that everyone is dying from. They then followed it up with that Trump has been set up by the press and that he is the most honest and effective president the US has seen.
my wife told me not to react and let them have their views rather than starting an argument.

    Christian
Not sure what’s worse about the C19, the conspiracy theorists or the rules bores.

Both on the same bonfire would be a result.

Christian There are so many great mentalists around nowadays, on both ends of the political spectrum (and probably ā€˜on the spectrum’ too) that I’ve started just listening along nowadays, actually it’s really interesting.

What’s most interesting to me is how simplistic people’s worldviews are, particularly those who believe strongly that everything is about Agenda 21/Great Reset and being pushed by a small global cabal in charge of everything (rather than the world, as is more likely, being a number of competing and intersecting hierarchies), and they will even explain away evidence to the contrary as ā€œwell, that’s part of THEIR design tooā€.

Mad_Cyril completely agree. But they still want me to do their shopping just in case

Christian It can be surprisingly difficult to argue with people who are that stupid, although there’s nothing stopping you just laughing at them next time - you’re entitled to your own views too.

bosstrabs ā€œwell, that’s part of THEIR design tooā€.

Replace ā€œtheirā€ with ā€œGod’sā€ design and it fits too. They use the same lazy confirmation methods to simplify how everything in the world works. It’s a thorn in the thumb having to share society with these people.

bosstrabs It’s not that hard really.

Information and misinformation is at people’s fingertips 24/7 and Google / Social media have AI algorithms honing in on what will keep said people glued to their screens.?

if they start visiting conspiracy theory sites, then more of the same will come there way.

Hursty there’s no algorithm on Google that stops you researching other points of view so it comes down to personal responsibility.
There’s no excuse for being ignorant these days unless it’s wilful.

            Or lazy

            LT42

You’re incorrect in your assumption that those sort of people actually research their points of view rather than consume spoon fed, tailored videos based on their viewing preferences on social media platforms. Overestimating the thirst for factual knowledge for those folks…

              -si- you ole scamp, Si.

Would it be fair to say social media only leads you astray in this instance if you’re a thick lazy cunt and/or new to technology and can shove your Facebook up your arse?

Surely thick, lazy cunt sums up the target market perfectly mate?

LT42 Yes but my point being the algorithms have already changed people’s behaviour so even though they think they are choosing to view something, they are being guided there.

All very interesting and I get your point but fundamentally the AI algorithms are already out of control changing people’s behaviour and perceptions.

It’s pathetic that we have the totality human knowledge at our literal fingertips with iPhones yet so many still choose to be titanically stupid. It’s a choice.

An ex of mine who lives down in Orange County has the world at her fingertips. She’s an absolutely stunning Persian girl who is quick as a whip. She’s just gone all in on Trump and C19 conspiracies. It’s really quite sad. But it’s a choice she made. She has decided that truth and reason aren’t as important to her as whatever the fuck is going on between those ears of hers. And sadly, it seems like most, once they go down that road, don’t really come out of it. It really is cult-like.

…in turn, the JC Forum algorithm making me feel part of a higher consciousness.

I can only imagine the critical thinking wasteland that is FB these days. A social experiment gone wrong if ever there was one.

Bonker that our parents went from ā€œdon’t believe what you read on the internetā€ to having FB be their primary ā€œnewsā€ source.

Not my parents, mind. Or yours in particular. Just speaking generally.
