Unless it’s mandatory for travel I won’t be rushing out to get a jab, no fucking way.
I understand why people are relieved/excited but it’s at least 4 years earlier than the previous vaccine record. Hopefully it gets the machine running again but count me out of the experiment.

Millsy I’m not anti-vax, let’s just get that out of the way but because its been rushed, there are immunologists who are uncomfortable with how it’s been rushed, and we don’t know the long term effects yet as they haven’t been thoroughly researched. It’s been rushed by people with vested interests too. Overall it makes me uncomfortable and people far smarter than I on the subject feel the same way. Now I’ve bought dust off unknowns in back alleys over the years and not had a bother handing over my hard earned but I’ve never had a flu shot, I’m rarely ill outside of food poisoning and I don’t need to be 1st in line for this one.

Given I’m under 50 I won’t be getting one for at least a few months and will see if many adverse reactions. You might be right on some long term risk although if you are concerned then you should probably go for the Astra Zeneca - it’s a modified version of their Ebola vaccine which has been around for some time without issues (I believe). Longer term this is the only way society gets rid (or substantially lowers its prevalence) of this virus… so arguably we have a duty to take it imo

mono-stereo You don’t need 100% of the community to take a vaccine to achieve herd immunity. In the next 6 months, there will be a broad percentage of society that will have been immunised making it safer for the rest of the population. Otherwise every vaccine that came along would mandatory. I’ve been led to believe for the last 8 months that all this was to protect the elderly anyway.
