The General Covid19 Thread
Shocking really. At the rate the UK is going at the second lockdown is in the post for sure.
It’s more the english than the entire UK carrying on like that, lt.
-si- You’re right but I’m trying to shit on the Govt mostly. There should be hundreds of thousands out on the streets (wearing masks and gloves) heading to Westminster to rip Johnson, Hancock, Cummings etc out by by the balls and then dealt with accordingly. It’s shocking what they’re getting away with, it really is.
The government don’t have the balls to govern, ironically. Same as the umpa lumpa, scared to upset his vote by putting the foot down and enforcing a lockdown. I have to say the financial support the uk government introduced needs some credit, the enforcement of lockdown doesn’t. Fines in france and spain for leaving the house without valid permission.
The similarities between what’s happening in the US and England can’t be overlooked anymore. Its basically like the same country. Governed by spoofers, filled with selfish ignorant twats who seem to want to fuck it up for all the good people.
I’m fucking livid about Bournemouth beach. The cunts leave their shit everywhere afterwards too. Fuck off back from whence you came!
I find it hard to lay too much blame at the door of the government. It doesn’t matter what they do, nobody can legislate for some of the ignorance of the general population. I was in the supermarket the other day and I swear I was the only person who was following the arrows, everyone else (including the staff) were just walking around as normal, no masks, gloves etc. You do start to think ‘Am I the one in the wrong here’ when everyone else is doing something different to you.
I did manage to get back into the office for the first time in 13 weeks earlier this week, which was a really good experience. My employers have been superb - really gone to town on protective measures in the office, sanitising stations everywhere, strict rules for people in the building - and they continue to remind people that they do not need to be in the building at all, they are happy for all people to work from home.
Seems to me a lot of people in the UK are in this little bubble of being furloughed , still getting paid , great weather and statisticaly unlikely to catch Covid. Hence off to the beach and the like. When pubs open they will be rammed if people are still furloughed.
shits gonna get real once people have to go back to work and navigate the new world we live in . Or if they are laid off and we start hitting 15% unemployment . Some of the numbers I’m seeing at work are scary .
How the govt can’t make masks mandatory is beyond me. About 10% of people I see in supermarkets have them on. No ones gonna wear them down a boozer.
I love pubs but I’m fucked if I’m gonna risk it at the moment . Luckily I’m an old bastard and can live on my memories for a good while yet

gcw The blame lies with the government, their poor planning and even poorer comms. It’s a shitshow. Masks should be mandatory in shops and public transport - that’s not a difficult to get across, is it?
Also, all this announcing a week or two before something else opens up is just heaping the blame on the public when they do it immediately - it really fucking boils my piss.
Along_the_Wire Exactly, not blaming the Govt and pointing the finger at ignorant types is ridiculous. The very reason people are doing what they like is because the Govt aren’t strict and don’t seem to care. Pop a £500 quid fine on anybody not wearing a mask, do you think that would make a diff?
New cases ramping up in Sweden, and the main science guy there (Swedish Fauci if you will) gave an interview to Finnish media yesterday where he said he was shocked that other Nordic countries chose lockdown instead of doing what Sweden did in March. Seven times as many dead per capita than Finland and the guy still can’t admit they fucked up majorly.
Hearing a lot more stories of people who I know and family of friends who are all getting infected in the last two weeks. No deaths close to home yet, but some of the stories are pretty fucking scary.
@jonattonyeah - I’m hearing SF is in bad shape and things are on the verge of taking off. Kinda surprised you’re so chill about it. Relieved you beat it.
Pretty much the same infections and deaths as last week today. Way to go UK
Close the beaches.
Some incredible scenes from the south coast, no fucks given.
