Smallman1 I went for the NFL, the food and the sights with the bird. The only prog was coming out of my portable speaker in the hotel room (The W Waterfront with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan)
Would never want to live there, but I think Chicago is a great city. Beautiful architecture, massive streets, right on Lake Michigan…

So I just learned that in like 1947 there was a smallpox outbreak in NYC, and the city/state vaccinated over 7 million at a clip of 600,000 people per week. The systematic outsourcing of government resources to the private sector has really worked out wonderfully! By the time I am able to get the COVID vaccine it will be delivered by an UberVax employee who told Kelly he didn’t think it was his employer’s responsibility to provide him with healthcare.

Same problem in the USA. Every single small biz lobbies their Governor and gets approval to stay open. Can’t entirely blame them either as both the owners and employees will lose money if they can’t work. Paying people to stay home is the only way to handle this, and we would rather kill people than allow that to happen.

Our government have royally fucked the small business/self-employed world in the UK. You have a whole constituency of roughly 3m people who have not received a penny of support during the pandemic. The type of people who any other time would have been all over the Conservative Party with their support and they’ve pretty much been told to spend your savings, take mortgage holidays, use your investment money and get on with it.
