My dad’s a builder and had to rush off the extension job he was doing for me to do a job on my brother’s house. I needed to redecorate and he’d left so many tools etc. on the job that I had to move everything around the rooms every time I needed to paint a ceiling or wall. It made the job take twice as long as if I had the place empty to work in. Fucking nightmare - can imagine the shit you have to deal with like this all the time Dubbers.
Have you ever heard your dad tell a customer on the phone that his gran had died as an excused to work on another job?
Along_the_Wire That’s appalling behaviour.
Along_the_Wire It always amazes me how often their vans seem to break down, it always an obscure part that takes a couple of days for the garage to get as well.
I tell you what is going dust. A good plasterer.
Millsy That’s another topic. Bad plastering.
Dubman I always only go with plasterers my decorator recommends. Stands to reason really.
“She had a face like a plasterer’s radio when I’d finished” still has to be one of my favourite sayings ever.
bosstrabs Was that Ron Jeremy.
bosstrabs “She had a face like a plasterer’s radio when I’d finished”
Stuck on Smooth FM with the occasional sojourn to Magic?
Millsy Is the correct answer. I only recommend one plasterer. There’s hardly any making good and he properly cleans up after he’s finished.
Even his radio?
Old-Dutch Especially.
My mum got a phone call from my father today saying that he’s been in contact with somebody at work who’s got covid. He’s been told that he should be ok as they were wearing masks so he doesn’t need to self-isolate. Fingers crossed he hasn’t caught it.
Covid must be the best fucking thing to happen the building trade. You can get off a job for weeks at a time.
I had a builder ask if it was ok for his nephew to join him as he was self isolating due to a Covid case at his school.
I politely declined.
Smallman1 I sent off a sternly worded email to my kid’s school today because a neighbour of ours is pushing the boundaries for the critical worker status of kids being able to go to still go in.
I’m only fucking jealous to be fair.
Over 1,500 UK deaths today….gulp. SAGE stated the peak is going to be early to mid Feb, so these numbers are going to go up even more. Seems like supply issues with the vaccine isn’t helping either. Gonna be a tough 6 weeks…..
So much for advances in medical tactics to prevent deaths by Covid as well.
Quite right too Dan.
