We should be okay. The flu vaccine doesn’t always match up but it does a good enough job. If we had 50% effectiveness with the flu vaccine our docs would all have raging boners. The Covid vacs seem far better than that. Not sure why the variants are getting so much press when they don’t ever get brought up on the calls I’m on.
But the reality is Sars isn’t going anywhere. We’ll likely have a Covid-28 or a Covid-31 or whatever. It’s the nature of how we live our lives and the manner in which we congregate with animals and each other, which is oftentimes very poorly. Not to go full xeno, but China needs to figure their shit out. Those wet markets need to go. I don’t blame the people, I blame the government. People don’t know any better. Health officials do (or fucking should). We’re honestly lucky Covid is as tame as it is. It’s dangerous, obviously, but it’s not like hemorrhagic.
