Hursty Australia really did an elaborate version of duck and hide. Not having vaccines be a big part of the strategy was just idiotic. Suppressing is a great solution before vaccines are ready though. Just look at New Zealand. I’m amazed how little their economy took a hit considering how much it’s based on tourism.
Restricting AZ to only over 60s when it is your primary vaccine is a monumental fuck up. The population at large will have zero antibodies to COVID. Had they have used the time they bought getting people vaccinated, they could have been one of the success stories of all of this.
