Not sure what we could’ve done. Seems Covid would’ve had its way with us irrespective of lockdowns, masks, etc. SF was early on shutting things down, people were good about masks, and our vaccination rate is around 82%. Still ended up with 50K cases and 600 deaths. Could’ve been worse and mitigation efforts certainly helped, but the idea that we could’ve gotten through this in a few months with stricter measures….I dunno. Covid is a bastard.

I just got back from my first post pandemic domestic air travel experience. Harrowing to say the least. International air travel sounds very safe, however domestic flying was atrocious. Outside of mandatory masking, there are absolutely no restrictions. No temp checks, no proof of vaccination, and no proof of clear test. The quality of masking really came down to our stewardesses. On one flight a dude so much a showed his nose, and he was told he would be placed on a no fly list if it happened again. However, the next flight had everyone wearing chin diapers with absolutely no push back. My last flight had a tandem of whales both of whom 1000% had COVID. They were blasting dry painful coughs the whole way. Based on our departing flights, we chose to upgrade to the pathetic first class section, in order to distance ourselves from the MAGA chuds. Was undeniably worth it. Doesn’t protect you from standing in line for TSA with adults pulling suitcases shaped like R2D2, but it does get you off the fucking plane asap, with a thimble of booze in you, without having to further cavort with the hoopleheads.

    Fucking lol!

So a question for the board… you walk into a coffee shop… in the U.K. it’s not a legal requirement to be wearing one…70-80% of people have masks on… 20-30% don’t. What do you think of the 20-30% without masks?

      Jules72
If it’s a personal choice situation and they choose not to, that’s up to them.

      It’s when they’re mandatory that they’re cunts.

      PERIOD

If they were drinking their coffee at the time they get a pass. Doing that through a mask would be a challenge

Mad_Cyril now if you’re a nice chap, you probably care about those around you right? And if 80% are wearing masks that probably means others want you to do the same? So surely it’s just good etiquette to wear one?

Jules72 Wait till you cop it… You’ll soon be wearing a fucking mask again.

Jules72 and? less likely to get it, spread it, be hospitalized, end up in icu, get long covid, or die. covid isn’t going to disappear, so i ask again, what’s the problem if they’re vaccinated?

303abuser because you still are highly likely to spread it if you have it, despite being vaccinated

              Jules72
Yes. It is good etiquette. And I’d prefer them to.

But people have good and bad etiquette in lots of scenarios.

If it’s a personal choice kinda scene, not a mandatory one, then it’s up to them.

              Them’s the rules.

Mad_Cyril fair enough… so you wouldn’t think badly of them? Even though you’d prefer they did wear masks?

Jules72 that’s just not true, especially if you’re around other vaccinated people.

303abuser estimates ive seen have transmission cut by 50% by vaccines (due to lower viral load being spewed out)… so I think you’re wrong in that

Jules72 yeah so if everyone is vaccinated, not obviously coughing on each other, and spend less than 15 minutes of shared indoor time, the chances of spreading it are almost non-existent and if anyone does get it, it’s extremely likely that it’s a non-issue.
