Alright lads.

Does anyone have any experience with the Arturia Minilab 3? I watched a YouTube video of it a few days back and it seems like playing around with it could be fun.

Can a total novice pick one of these things up and get to grips with it relatively quickly?

Can’t remember where you’re based Matt, but was in Bop DJ in Mcr and pretty sure they had one out. Was looking at loads of stuff and they offered to get gear sent from other stores if there was anything else I wanted to try out.

Think there’s a showroom in Leeds too?

…I don’t, have the Novation Launchkey mini which I absolutely love to the point where I scarcely touch my 49 key controller now. Arturia gear is consistently excellent in my experience though.

I picked up rc-20 a couple of years ago for $20 and it was well worth it for adding some lofi colour to sounds. I’ll throw it on a return track sometimes too.

Have a clueless question about Ableton. I’m trying to attenuate the EQ3 using automation but can only automate it on/off. How do you attenuate it in arrangement view please?

whatever When you’re in arrangement view, unfold the devices by clicking the black arrow to the left of the track name, then select eq3 from the device list, a new list should appear below with the eq3 parameters, select the one you want and an automation lane should show on the track.

Edit: look at 0:48 of this video, it shows what I’m describing …

Thank you. Have got the automation line but all it lets me do is turn the EQ3 components on or off. What I want to do is gradually increase like you can with other automated processes instead of being on or off. I tried editing the value and it still just defaults to on/off. I’m obviously just doing something really stupid but can’t figure out what it is.

whatever I never use eq3, so I’m not totally sure off the top of my head. Give me a bit and I’ll open a project and try it out.

whatever It works for me, I’m able to automate all of the parameters on Live 12. Do you have them in the drop down menu or are they missing?

Borrowed Push 2 for a while, amazing bit of kit, but I don’t always want to be sat at my desk when I’m making music, love my Launchkey Mini for this very reason
