alistair I’ve already done a PvD tribute mix a couple of years ago, but it was more like early to mid-2000’s tracks.

I used to have quite a lot of 90s stuff on vinyl, but it all stayed at the family home when I moved to London on a whim, way back when. Subsequently found out that it all got thrown into a skip when they decided to decorate after I’d left. Broke my heart!

ScottBailey remember watching PvD record his live EM at the Gallery Turnmills in 99. One of my fave nights that. Atmosphere/anticipation electric and he smashed it. Much better than Oakie in my opinion back then.

Genuinely would never speak to them again.

SM001 I still have a very small fraction of hope that they’re still in the loft, but mum has rented out that house for over a decade and she’s said that there’s nothing left of mine in there now. It definitely didn’t move with her to their new place, so pretty sure it’s all gone. Probably did it out of spite for all those years I spent practicing!

wtf did PVD do of note during those years?! The last two tracks of his I remember being aware of at the time were Avenue and Namistai, and those were both 99/00.

hugopal there’s a track called Time Traveller on there, think I played The Other Side, and I think I also played one or two of his remixes. The other tracks were stuff he was playing around that time. Remembered watching him a Gatecrasher Summer Sound System in 2000 and with all the lasers going it was pretty epic. Was trying to make something that reminded of of that time.

ScottBailey who are those absolute muppets that can’t name check Mars pump up the volume? They should be disqualified from ever dj’ing again

nicksneddon brings a tear to my eye these tunes mate, Wide Eyed Angel beautiful piece of music - BBE Flash - not heard that in years. Mild klang story: Last year this chap moved in next door with his family - nice chap - scouser - Everton fan. Bit of football chat, best pubs locally, restaurants.. ….usual thing. So anyway lockdown happened and i ordered some new decks and was on holiday when they finally arrived very delayed. 2 mins after arriving home knock on the door - its the scouser with a large box which he had kindly received - Pioneer on the outside. Asked me if I did a bit of DJing and I said a bit of this and that - bit of prog not expecting him to really understand - well no one ever does do they? . But he says he used to do a bit himself in the 90s - I said where was that - he said at Cream - I said "“what Cream in Liverpool” - he said yes - and in fact he had owned it with his brother and run it for years. Gulp! Turns out next door is James Barton who has a million stories of Oaky in the Courtyard and being the centre of the world for a few magical years. Tragedy is that he has binned all his records and decks - just does festivals now. So I am working on getting us all a JC slot at a festival on a tiny remote stage ……my wife laughs at me when I say this of course! The irony is that I only went to Cream once and can remember very little of the experience such were the priorities of the time!

              Great Klang.

James used to pull a decent groove on in the Annexe

baggers44 will still have a soft spot for trance in that era. Amazing nights.

Yeah, wouldn’t call that a mild klang. 😂
