…loved ‘Death By Lightning’, limited series (4 eps) about the 3-month long presidency of James Garfield in the 1880’s. Casting is terrific, maybe the best performance I’ve seen from Matthew Macfadyen who plays desperate chancer-come-assassin Charles Guiteau.
As a massive Boardwalk Empire fan, also loved seeing Shea Wigham (Eli Thomson in Boardwalk) as the crooked Roscoe Conkling and Michael Shannon (Van Alden) as the President. Nick Offerman also ace as Garfield’s drunken thug VP.
First ep kinda sets the political stage and is a little slow, but if you can get past that, it’s well worth your time IMO.
