I think a better thread would be decent places to live in the UK with thriving local job markets ā¦.
The UK was very quick on the offshoring initiative, thinking those displaced would move up the food chain , but automation and increased competition put pay to that .
in fairness to the US, they have protected US jobs to a better degree than the UK. In my industry US functions need controls in the US, not India . As a result many more operations / entry level jobs here leading to thriving local regions
One example is Nashville . 10 yrs ago a no go zone. Now Amazon , UBS and Alliance Bernstein to name a few moving ops jobs down there . Donāt see similar initiatives happening in the UK
