I think a better thread would be decent places to live in the UK with thriving local job markets ….
The UK was very quick on the offshoring initiative, thinking those displaced would move up the food chain , but automation and increased competition put pay to that .
in fairness to the US, they have protected US jobs to a better degree than the UK. In my industry US functions need controls in the US, not India . As a result many more operations / entry level jobs here leading to thriving local regions
One example is Nashville . 10 yrs ago a no go zone. Now Amazon , UBS and Alliance Bernstein to name a few moving ops jobs down there . Don’t see similar initiatives happening in the UK
