bosstrabs I think this woman spoke for us all with that perfectly understandable reaction tbf

bosstrabs the Fontaine mix has ‘Good Shot’, which I’ve already declared my liking of on this board.

On the Tall Paul mix, I must admit I still have a bit of a soft spot for '‘Storm’, it has a great rhythm and energy to it.

One of the worst things about those two mixes is that they don’t have the top versions of ‘Cafe Del Mar’, ‘Ayla’, Binary Finary and ‘Greece 2000’ - that was one thing the MoS comps were usually quite good at. Would, say, the Taucher remix of ‘Ayla’ have been more expensive or more difficult to sign than the Space Brothers remix? Or is Seb Fontaine just a no-taste pillock? Or both?

Well, I don’t know anything about the licensing/exclusivity, but in the case of Cafe del Mar, as someone who was clubbing around this time, this is Cream Anthems ’98 and the Nalin And Kane Remix was the one that was getting hammered.

The superior Three ‘n’ One Remix was on the previous year’s Cream Anthems ’97 and had been absolutely rinsed the year before.

That’ll be the why on that one then; bit of a lack of originality and imagination to include 2 different versions of the same tune 2 years in a row.

Although as I said the ’98 Remix package (IIRC Nalin & Kane was the main one) gave the tune a second wave in the summer of 98.

It was always a floor filler, in all its guises, and I think it was probably the djs who had less originality/variety in their choice of bangers.

      bosstrabs This week’s instalment,

What happened to the previous two weeks’ installments ‘dave’?

      Feeling a little cheated

hugopal big fan of good shot was the tune of the first homelands for me

bosstrabs Tall Paul was always better than Fontaine. He had a sound and there was a better, funkier tempo to his sets. As a Turnmills veteran, I saw him drop some pretty eclectic sets. At Gods, Cream etc, I imagine he would just be on autopilot.

I also thought he was a slight cut above Seb, Sonique, Judge Jules and the others of that ilk (that played about three gigs a night all over the place).

Smallman1 The star of The Gallery at Turnmills was Steve Lee.

            Brilliant Dj.

Best DJs I remember seeing at Gurnmills were Jon Carter (Heavenly Jukebox night around 98-99) and Tom Stephan doing his Superchumbo stuff in the back room (Think it was a ‘Gallery’ night).

              Neil Tennant’s ex.

              Tru fax.

Smallman1 good dj but the atmosphere was always a several notches higher when Paul came on.

Smallman1 Too many bug eyed weirdos left by the time Steve came on at 6. Must have missed you
