Just browsing through some stuff on band camp today and ran across a couple really strange sub-genres and was wondering what other weird things were out there 
The two I saw today:

Math Rock
WTF are these? What other sub-genres have you seen that just make no damn sense?

Battles are well worth checking out (math rock)

Havenāt much else from them but remember Atlas being a tune
Think the first Foals album was considered math rock..
