LT42 if it were an executive order then I would totally agree with you. However, rule by judicial force is something the Repubs have been transparently perusing since my parents were in college. If you accept this fact, then I don’t see how you can blame anyone other then the Democratic party as a whole, because they knew exactly what the opposition was going to do yet they did absolutely NOTHING to stop it.

In light of this discussion, I think it is important to point out that all of the statements I have made about access to abortion services also applies to voting rights. Repubs have been chipping away at them for years and years and Dems have done nothing to stop it. Look to Georgia in Nov to see how successful they have been at denying access to the polls.

The actions of the Dems with all these issues, or the non-actions depending on what way you look at it, doesn’t change the fact that the USA entered a very dark epoch as soon as that filthy piece of shit was elected. After all of this, are you still under the impression that the republicans and democrats are separate entities representing different platforms? Seems to be they’re both just vessels of (sometimes aligned, sometimes not) corporate interests. I think that applies to most nations, but it’s amplified in the states because of their global position and that they only have two parties to choose from.

I blame the Obungler far more than Trump. Obama was POTUS when Scalia dropped dead after his fifth plate of bedtime oysters. Obama chose not to fight for his ability to fill the seat because 1: he was pussy and refused to use the bully pulpit, and 2: he was a cocky motherfucker who was sure Hillary would win.

Also, it was Obama who asked RGB to step down, and when she said “no” he said “oh ok fine then, qween” Mitch McConnel would NEVER take that shit. They threw Kennedy out the fucking door to ensure that they didn’t get RGB’d, and boy did that pay dividends. It all comes down to the Dems consistently and endlessly bringing a knife to an AR-15 fight.

My issue with blaming Trump is this: it gets the Dems completely off the hook and meets the desires of their current base, which is generally speaking a group of pathetic worms. As long as they have a scape goat they can get out of having to totally reform and start over. If the Dems were serious, they would completely support healthcare reform/M4A as a party wide issue. It already polls well, and could go off the charts if they actually started messaging behind it. Now is the perfect time to start as M4A guarantees access to abortion services. But they won’t because they are corrupt pieces of shit and more than ½ the party bathes in health insurance pac funding.

Maybe I’m in a bubble, but I don’t hear anyone giving the Dems a pass. People are angry at their inaction and rightfully so. But let’s not confuse the issue here - a lunatic, regressive Republican Party want to turn this country back to the 1950’s. THAT is the real issue here. Should the Dems have more of a spine? Sure. Like I said, obama was soft, and trump swooped in to make sure the right wing had full control of the Supreme Court.

I generally don’t bash trump though. As a foreigner, it’s hard to not respect the fact trump has the least foreign blood on his hands, compared to any modern US president. Besides his views on climate change, I don’t really see him affect my life in anyway, good for some laughs for the batshit crazy things he’s does and says.

The problem with Trump for me was just the chaos of it all. It was exhausting. And he’s also just such an objectively repulsive individual. Bush II was worse from a policy standpoint but I could at least SOMEWHAT see the appeal of him to conservatives - legacy pick, Warhawk, religious in theory. With Trump it was the realization that, oh, conservatives will literally vote for anyone who pisses off the left - they have no principals or ideas beyond that. It’s not the means to an end, it’s the entire point. And he was even worse than even my basement expectations were. I mean, he was SO bad he actually made Bush II seem kinda reasonable which is just unreal for anyone who paid attention in the 2000-10 decade.

I’ve kept it about the damage caused domestically as foreign policy is an entirely different matter. Had a US president ever been an asset for foreign intelligence before 2016? The impact of the Iraq War doesn’t need to be discussed, we’re all adults here, but which one of these scenarios has been more damaging to America long term? Writing off Jan 6th like it was just a normal afternoon at the office is pretty shocking considering the motives and circumstances around it. Maybe you’re just numb, its understandable.
